What's New with Culture to Culture?
Sign Language Class offered starting June 1
A Sign Language Class meets every Tuesday evening from 6:30-8 p.m. at Orchard's Mall, Benton Harbor, Michigan in the food court. This is an opportunity for community members to learn or practice sign language. This class is taught by a Deaf person. No charge, donations accepted. Grants received from Berrien Community Foundation and Upton Foundation
May has been a busy month for grant funding. We received a $2,000 grant from the Berrien Community Foundation. Funds will be used to launch educational and advocacy programs.
In addition, we recently received a $5,000 challenge grant from the Upton Foundation. We are very grateful to both of these foundations for their support.
Culture to Culture receives 501(c)3 status
On December 2, 1998, Culture to Culture received notification that the Internal Revenue Service determined us to be a non profit organization!
Other News
Our organizational meeting was held on August 29, with representatives from all three counties present. This was an excellent meeting!
Flyers about Culture to Culture were distributed at the Deaf Festival at Scottsdale Mall on Saturday, September 12. This festival was well attended, and provided great information. Good job to Community Services for All Deaf (CSAD) of South Bend, Indiana, who sponsored the event.

Our incorporation papers were filed on August 3, 1998 in the State of Michigan. Forms for nonprofit status were mailed to the Internal Revenue Service on September 18.
