AIDS Drug Assistance Program (MADAP)
MADAP helps low to moderate income Maryland residents pay for
certain drugs prescribed to treat HIV infection and AIDS. Recipients
may be required to pay part of the cost of drugs covered by
MADAP, depending upon income and household size. A person with
partial prescription coverage may be able to have MADAP pay
for their copays or deductibles on covered drugs. MADAP can
also provide up to 90 days of emergency HIV/AIDS prescription
coverage under the Transitional Assistance Program (TAP). (You
must apply for TAP at a local health department HIV/AIDS program
or an AIDS Service Organization.) MADAP-Plus provides assistance
with health insurance premiums for people who do not qualify
for the Maryland AIDS Insurance Assistance Program (MAIAP) because
of their income, assets, or because they are not disabled by
HIV. HIV+ individuals who have insurance coverage and must pay
50% or more of their premiums can apply for MADAP-Plus. (The
eligibility requirements are the same as for MADAP.)
