Katherine A. Sandberg is the Program Manager of the Minnesota Chemical Dependency Program for Deaf and Hard of Hearing Individuals in Minneapolis, Minnesota.   The Program provides chemical dependency education, assessment, treatment and training specifically related to deaf and hard of hearing persons . Ms. Sandberg supervises clinical services as well as outreach and training activities.  Prior to accepting the position as Manager, Ms. Sandberg was responsible for materials review and development, outreach services to schools and communities, provision of training, family,
individual and group counseling.  She was involved in developing a specialized version of the Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.) Curriculum.

Ms. Sandberg is a licensed alcohol and drug counselor with the State of Minnesota.  She is a member of the Education Committee for the Advisory Council to the licensure process.  Prior to joining the Program staff in 1989, Ms. Sandberg worked at the Minnesota State Academy for the Deaf.  She was a teacher and also involved in providing education, prevention and intervention services for students related to alcohol and other drug use.  She was involved in establishing a student assistance program at the Academy and served as its chair person for three years.  Ms. Sandberg is a licensed teacher of deaf and hard of hearing students.
